1. Frankenstein Discussion Groups
Use your Themes HW to discuss your thoughts on the following: (25 min)
How does Shelley use Frankenstein as a criticism of the Enlightenment, society's quest for knowledge and discovery?
How does Shelley use Gothic and/or Romantic elements to convey a theme?
How does Shelley use symbolism in Frankenstein to convey a theme?
Submit Theme HW into proper bin after group discussion.

Summative Timed Essay (40 minutes)
1. CLEAR DESKS
ONLY clean binder paper, pen, prompt and reflection directions on desk- no hats, notebooks, etc. on desk please. No notes!!!
After handing out prompts, teacher will circulate to check and stamp binder paper as students begin writing please.
TIMED- 40 minutes total for essay, start time after distributing the prompts. Students may NOT discuss prompts before writing.
2. Meta-Cognitive Reflection (after 40 minutes for essay) (10 min)
Complete on separate sheet of paper and staple to top of your essay and prompt in the back. Turn in Meta cognition directions separately.
No talking until all essays and meta-cognitions are collected!
3. ATP
Students may work quietly on HW, etc. (last 30 minutes of block)
